The thing you notice about Cher’s new Christmas album is how much fun she’s having – she keeps cracking up during or right at the end the songs – and so while these holiday-pop standards stick very closely to the originals, think of it not as copycatting but a really enthusiastic singalong. “DJ Play A Christmas Song” is basically a Christmas-ified version of “Believe,” but that’s not a bad thing: she’s giving everybody permission to take a short break from the constant Everything around us, and have a little fun together. “It’s tough outside, but it’s love in here/And that’s the only thing I want this year.”
